Tournament History

The University of Florida Swamp Bowl began in the Fall of 1988. Originally it was a tournament to sponsor the Miami Project, giving money to the Mark Buonoconti fund to help fight paralysis. The idea was to have tournaments across the nation at various college campuses. In 1993, the tournament was renamed the "Swamp Bowl". The Miami Project has since become a multi-million dollar operation, but the legacy of the Swamp Bowl has taken it's own life and continues to this day. Teams from all over the Southeast come to visit the UF campus and play some of the best teams that the University of Florida campus has to offer. It's the success of the UF teams that keeps other schools coming back every year, wanting to play the best in the nation. Hopefully that tradition will continue for the foreseeable future.
