Tae Kwon Do is a Korean martial art known especially for its spinning head high kicks. Although Tae Kwon Do is Korean, the style has roots in Chinese Karate and Kung Fu. Currently Tae Kwon Do and Judo are the only two traditional martial arts styles certified as full medal Olympic sports Tae Kwon Do is one of the most popular martial arts, and is practiced by over 20 million people throughout the world.
The University of Florida Tae Kwon Do club integrates many styles of Tae Kwon Do. The club teaches basic and advanced kicking, punching, blocking, self-defense and sparring techniques. We also focus on connecting the mind and body by focusing on flexibility, speed and cardiovascular stamina. Both beginners and advanced students are welcome. If interested, active club members can compete at local and national tournaments.
Please wear loose fitting clothes or a martial arts uniform if you have one. Also bring your Gator 1 Card for entrance to the Southwest Recreation Center.
