Tae Kwon Do

(Founded 1996)
Tae Kwon Do is a Korean martial art known especially for its spinning head high kicks. Tae Kwon Do is distinctly Korean, but has roots in Chinese Karate and Kung Fu. Currently Tae Kwon Do is one of 2 traditional martial arts certified as a full medal Olympic sport - the other is Judo. Tae Kwon Do is one of the most popular martial arts, and is practiced by over 20 million people throughout the world.
The UF Tae Kwon Do club integrates many styles of Tae Kwon Do. We teach basic and advanced kicking, punching, blocking, self-defense, and sparring techniques. We also focus on connecting the mind and body by focusing on flexibility, speed, and cardiovascular stamina. Both beginners and advanced students are welcome. If interested, active club members can compete at local and national tournaments.
Please wear loose fitting clothes or a martial arts uniform if you have one. Also bring your Gator-1 card for entrance to the Southwest Recreation Center.
