1-Pitch Softball Tournament
Summer B 2008
Due to lack of interest, the Summer B 2008 1-Pitch Tournament has been canceled. Check back next summer for registration info.
What is it?
A 1-Pitch softball game follows the same basic rules as a regular softball game; however, each batting team provides the pitcher instead of the defense. Each batter receives one pitch per at bat. The hitter must swing at the pitch - no matter where the pitch is thrown - because every pitch is declared a strike. Therefore, each pitch that is thrown results in either a runner reaching a base or an out.
When is it?
Tournament Play: Friday, July 18 - Sunday, July 20, 2008
SWRC Softball Complex (times TBD)
Who is eligible to play?
All current UF students, faculty and staff with a valid Gator-1 card are eligible to participate. Spouses/partners are also eligible provided they have purchased a gym membership (available at SWRC Rm 140). For a complete listing of eligibility rules please click HERE.
How do I sign up?
All teams interested in playing should send their captain to SWRC Rm 120 to sign up a team. The captain will need the following information: the team name, contact information (UFL email and phone number), and his/her Gator 1 Card. Registration will be limited to the first 8 teams (8 player minimum per team).
Registration: Tuesday, July 1 - Wednesday, July 16, 2008
9 a.m. - 5 p.m. SWRC Rm 120
After I sign up, how will I know when my team plays?
Once the captain registers the team he/she will receive a notification to attend the mandatory captain's meeting. All game schedules and rule clarifications will happen at this meeting. Any registered team that misses the meeting will automatically be dropped from the schedule.
Mandatory Captain's Meeting: Wednesday, July 16, 2007
7 p.m SWRC Conference Room
