Certification(s):
American Council on Exercise Certified Personal Trainer
USATriathlon Level I Triathlon Coach
Specializations & Philosophy on exercise:
- Total Training for endurance athletes
- Integrated running/track programs for speed, power, and endurance
- Injury prevention/performance enhancement
I feel too many people passively accept avoidable body changes or decreases in athletic performances, attributing these changes to the natural result of aging or injury.
For athletes, I believe sport-specific strength training is vital to ensure the athlete more time training and competing, and less time on the training room table.
I feel that the most important skill for a Personal Trainer to possess is the ability to assess the fitness and functional mobility of their clients. Itâ??s impossible to develop a personalized program for someone if you canâ??t tell what muscles are tight or weak and more importantly WHY those muscles are performing less than optimally.
Personal Interests and Hobbies:
As a Division I Cross-Country and Track runner specializing in the 5000 and 10,000 meters with personal bests of 15:45 for 5000m and 32:30 for 10,000m. I have also worked with post-rehabilitation training for over-use/muscle imbalance injuries, especially those involving the hip/knee/ankle/foot.
I am currently training for peak total conditioning (muscular strength, muscular endurance, cardiorespiratory endurance, flexibility and body composition) using Triathlon Training, Rock Climbing and Tai Chi as the foundation for my conditioning program.
