Water Skiing and Wakeboarding and Stand Up Paddle Boarding

Lake Wauburg offers free water skiing and wakeboarding to all UF students, faculty and staff. Participants must have a valid Gator 1 Card and a Lake Wauburg Ski Card. Equipment is provided or you may bring your own. A 2012 Malibu Axis is the boat used for either skiing or wakeboarding.

We will start taking Wake and Ski appointments on August 28, and every Tuesday following until mid-November

How to Get a Ski, Wakeboard and Stand Up Paddle Board Card

1. Take a swim test. You may take the test at Lake Wauburg, the Florida Pool or the Stephen C. O'Connell Center Pool. You must tell a lifeguard that you are there for a swim test. Please download, print and fill out the Lake Wauburg Waiver and bring with you when taking the swim test. The test consists of a 200 yard nonstop swim with no time limit followed by five minutes of treading water. Then, you must bring the signed waiver to Lake Wauburg.
   • Swim tests are available at Lake Wauburg: March 31 – November 1, Tuesday – Friday: Noon – 5 p.m.
2. Sign a ski card waiver form available at Lake Wauburg.

Reservations and Policies

To get a water skiing/wakeboarding time slot, call (352) 466-4112 on Tuesday from Noon – 2 p.m. To get an appointment to water ski/wakeboard in the current week. This is the only time of the week to call for reservations. Also on the Wake/Ski page can you add the following to the top.  

General Policies

1. One 20 minute time slot can be reserved per caller.
2. If an appointment is made during the current week, an appointment for the next week, cannot be made until 12:30 p.m.
3. At least 24 hours notice of cancellation must be made to be able to water ski the next active week.
4. Cancelled appointments are cancelled. Do not call or wait on shore for a cancellation.
5. A Gator 1 Card and ski card are required in order to get pulled behind the boat.
6. Guests are allowed to ride in the boat but are not allowed to water ski or wakeboard.
7. Appointments may be cancelled by Lake Wauburg staff due to weather, mechanical problems or if the driver becomes ill or unavailable. We will make every effort to call if there is a cancellation.
8. The Lake Wauburg boat driver is in charge and will stop activities at any time if they feel it is necessary to maintain safety.
