Broward Outdoor Recreation Complex Policies

General Policies

  1. Only University of Florida students, faculty, staff or their spouses/partners are authorized to use the Broward Outdoor Recreation Complex.
  2. Authorized users must present their current Gator 1 Card for admittance into BORC.
  3. Individuals who present false identification, or whose ID is presented by another individual may be referred to Judicial Affairs and or suspended from BORC as determined by the Assistant Recreational Sports Director for Facilities.
  4. Guests are not allowed.
  5. Spectators will only be allowed during intramural and special events.
  6. Spectators must check in at the gatehouse and be accompanied by an authorized user.
  7. Spectators are not allowed in the activity areas.
  8. Spectators must leave immediately following the contest.
  9. Tobacco products, glass containers and alcohol are not allowed.
  10. Coolers will be subject to inspection at any time.
  11. Bicycles (except BMX), motorcycles and mopeds are not allowed.
  12. Skateboards, BMX bikes and rollerblades are allowed in designated areas only.
  13. Food and drinks are not permitted on any of the playing surfaces.
  14. Pets, with the exception of service animals, are not allowed.
  15. Photographic devices may not be used in the restrooms.
  16. Personal radios are not allowed in the Broward Outdoor Recreation Complex area unless used with headphones.
  17. Warming up or playing outside the designated area is not allowed.
  18. All users of BORC are expected to be responsible, courteous and safety conscious at all times. Disorderly conduct, abuse or misuse of the facility or its equipment, or disregard for the Park's policies will not be tolerated. Violators will be required to leave the facility and may be subject to disciplinary action and/or payment for damages.
  19. Violators of the above policy may be referred to other authorities and or suspended from using recreational sports facilities as determined by the Assistant Recreational Sports Director for Facilities.

Basketball Courts

  1. Dunking is allowed.
  2. Hanging on the rim is not allowed.
  3. Skateboards or rollerblades are not allowed.
  4. Food and drinks are not allowed.

Tennis Courts

  1. Skateboards or roller blades are not allowed.

Roller Hockey Rink

  1. A helmet is required during open skate.
  2. Hockey equipment is not allowed on the rink during open skate.
  3. A helmet, elbow pads, gloves designed for hockey and knee and shin protection designed for hockey are required during all roller hockey activities.
  4. Goalie equipment is required for a player in the goalie box.
  5. The following goalie equipment is required: Blocker glove, leg guards, helmet with strap, full face mask with chin cup, chest protector, catching glove and padded hockey pants.
  6. Internal mouth protection and protective cup or pelvic protector are recommended.
  7. Skateboards are not allowed.
  8. Headphones are only permitted during open skate.
  9. Individuals who are not wearing the required equipment will be required to leave the rink.

Skate Park

  1. Skateboarders and BMX riders are required to properly wear a helmet at all times.
  2. Inline skaters are required to properly wear a helmet, kneepads and wrist guards at all times.
  3. Headphones are not allowed.
  4. Individuals who are not wearing the required equipment will be required to leave the skate park.
  5. No riding against traffic on pipes or rails.
  6. Do not proceed down ramp until it is clear of other riders.
  7. Additional ramps, jumps or obstacles are not allowed in the skate park.
  8. Modifications of the skating surface or features are not allowed.
  9. No bike riding is permitted in any common areas, walkways, or area other than the skate park.
  10. The skate park will have separate designated times for skateboarders and BMX riders. Both activities will not be allowed simultaneously.
  11. If the SCHEDULED activity has no users, the alternate activity may take place until participants who desire the SCHEDULED activity request to use the facility.

Equipment Checkout

  1. Only University of Florida students, faculty, staff or their spouses/partners may checkout equipment.
  2. To check out equipment you must:
    • Present your current Gator 1 Card.
    • Completely fill out and sign the equipment checkout form.
  3. All equipment must be returned by closing time on the same day it is checked out.
  4. If the equipment is not returned by closing time, it will be considered lost or stolen and the individual will be charged the retail replacement cost.
  5. Abusive use of equipment will not be tolerated. Users will be charged retail replacement cost for damaged equipment.
  6. Equipment is checked out on a first come, first served basis and may not be reserved.
