Waterfront Lifeguard
• Rate of Pay: $7.30/hr • Duties:
· Observe and enforce all rules and regulations
· Prevent injury and minimize or eliminate hazardous situations
· Respond quickly and appropriately to all emergency situations
· Administer emergency first aid to victims of injury or illness
· Communicate with other aquatic personnel the need for assistance and/or equipment
· Educate facility users and inform them of the purpose and need for rules
· Check Gator 1 Cards for entry into park while enforcing park entry rules and regulations in a diplomatic manner
· Answer phone and inform the public of hours of operation, areas of interest, reservation policies and special events
· Keep work area, gatehouse, boathouse and first aid room clean and uncluttered
· Check equipment for low oil or fuel, grease and maintain equipment according to safety and operation manual guidelines
· Check chlorine levels in the public drinking water and record at the end of the day
· Maintain restrooms, clean, empty trash and re-stock daily
· Clean Lodge and pavilions, empty trash daily
· Perform grounds maintenance duties as instructed by supervisors
• Requirements/Qualifications:
· University of Florida student
· Must have a current certification in American Red Cross Lifeguarding and CPR for the Professional, or equivalent
· Capable of passing pre-employment swim test corresponding to the American Red Cross Lifeguard skills test
· Required to work regular hours including weekend, holidays and nights
· May be required to work during inclement weather or when the University of Florida is on break
· Maintain good physical conditioning, strength, flexibility and speed
· Must maintain all required certifications during employment period
· Knowledge of methods, materials and equipment used in a waterfront, lake and park setting
· Knowledge of boats and related equipment
· Must have certification from the Florida Boating Safety Course
· Attend and participate in all in service programs
· Must have a valid driver's license
· Ability to work harmoniously with the Aquatic staff, guests and the public
· Instructor certification is desireable
Outdoor Recreation Assistant • Rate of Pay: $7.25/hr • Duties:
· Observe and enforce all rules and regulations
· Prevent injury and minimize or eliminate hazardous situations
· Respond quickly and appropriately to all emergency situations
· Administer emergency first aid to victims of injury or illness
· Communicate with other aquatic personnel the need for assistance and/or equipment
· Educate facility users and inform them of the purpose and need for rules
· Report all accidents to supervisors and complete all required reports
· Attend and participate in all in service programs
· Knowledge of personnel policy and procedures, facility rules and regulations
· Check Gator 1 Cards for entry into park
· Enforcing park entry rules and regulations in a diplomatic manner
· Answer phone and inform the public of hours of operation, areas of interest, reservation policies and special events
· Make necessary announcements on the public address system
· Keep work area, gatehouse, boathouse and first aid room clean and uncluttered
· Check equipment for low oil or fuel, grease and maintain equipment according to safety and operation manual guidelines

· University of Florida student
· Outdoor recreation experience, rock climbing and challenge course experience is preferred
· Knowledge of methods, materials and equipment used in a waterfront, lake and park setting
· Knowledge of boats and related equipment is a plus
· Must have a valid driverâ??s license
· Ability to work harmoniously with the staff, guests and the public
· Maintain all required certifications during employment period
